August 2008
Dear Parents, Teachers and Steele Community Members,
Planning has begun for the 6th annual Steele Auction and we would like to invite everyone to mark your calendars for Saturday, November 8, 2008. Please plan to attend Steele Elementary School’s biggest party and fund-raiser of the year. The auction benefits the Academic Development Fund which sponsors field trips, classroom supplies, enrichment programs, assemblies, scholarships and extra help in the classrooms at Steele Elementary School. This school year we hope to meet or exceed last year's effort by eliminating some of the larger expenses that make putting on a party so expensive which is paramount given our the economic situation facing many families today.
How Are We Going to Accomplish This?
- The venue has been moved from Mile High Station to Stanley British Primary School saving us {x- find out amount} amount of dollars.
- Since we have moved to a private school venue, we are allowed to bring in our own adult beverages and food which saves a bundle on catering expenses compared to the amount of money we spent last year.
- We are able to reduce the price of tickets from $35.00/person to $20.00 and hope all of the extended Steele community will be able to attend.
- The event has been moved to November so that we can do a little advance holiday shopping while supporting our children's school.
- We have moved the silent auction online (similar to eBay) so that our extended community can bid on items from the comfort of home - saving the more expensive items for the night of the event.
- We're going green! In an effort to reduce costs and the toll on the environment, all of our forms are available online which saves on printing and paper expenses - and we're saving a tree.
Last year’s auction featured fabulous getaways, wonderful teacher experiences, art made by our children and the highly coveted wine cellar among many other terrific donations. We are pleased to announce that last year’s Luau and Auction raised almost $45,000 after expenses. The auction committee sincerely hopes that you will consider donating something to this year's auction such as a gift certificate, service, wine, experience, sports and cultural events tickets and more.
Please see this page for donation ideas.
Putting on an auction takes a lot of work, if you would like volunteer your time to help make this year’s auction another successful one, please contact me.
Warmly,
Jenny Cargile
